Mercedes-Benz Dealership – Ontario

Exemplifying modern architectural style with an emphasis on luxury

Mercedes-Benz Dealership - Ontario

Inspired by the Foster + Partner’s McLaren Technology Centre in the United Kingdom, building design features include a striking two-story window wall that curves around a 12,000 square-foot (1,110 m2) outdoor reflecting pond, high ceilings, and an open floor plan. Sleek and visually appealing yet comfortable interior features also include glass walls and doors, open staircases and limestone flooring.

“With this new building, we saw an opportunity to create something new and different – a place where we weren’t just selling vehicles to the luxury market, but somewhere in which our customers would enjoy spending time on a regular basis. Thus, we found ourselves asking ‘Why not?’ quite a bit during the design process…”

Interview with owner regarding his investment into building’s architecture (Source here)

There was a clear connection between the architectural investment and luxury of the Mercedes-Benz brand experience.

This project is a multiple award winner.

  • Winner – Category: Retail Store Design – International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) 2011 Canadian Shopping Centre Global Awards
  • Multiple-year recipient of prestigious Mercedes Benz Star Dealer designation

Stella is proud to have collaborated extensively with the architects and glazing contractors to bring the design vision to reality.

Structural glass (supported by our point-supported products) was used in various walls, staircases, and around the “lighthouse” sign. A key interior feature is the serpentine glass wall that offers a viewing area of the showroom floor below.  Our custom-modified glass bolts provide invisible support at the top and bottom of large glass panels.
These articulating bolts enabled the use of more cost-effective flat glass to create a gently curving glass wall.

Our stand-offs were also used to reduce installation times by allowing face mounting.
