We Speak Your Language!

What differentiates us in the industry is the range of responsive solutions we offer for architectural glazing features and challenges, we simply don’t accept things that don’t work! We will listen to your ideas and supply the right solution for your project.

Our services and hardware cover the full spectrum of customization, from minor modifications to designing a completely custom part to reflect the architectural expression of the overall design, in a cost-effective way.

Glass Hardware has to do the job, but its other function is to look good! While our products are designed and tested for strength and safety, we’re passionate about aesthetic features such as sculpted lines, rounded edges and clean connection points.

LUNCH & LEARNS – Available Virtually

We have 20 years of glass expertise and are passionate about sharing it! We offer accredited learning hours for architects with our Lunch & Learn presentations.

Over the last year and a half, we’ve honed and refined our presentations for an interactive virtual experience. We can speak to a range of topics – our most popular is an overview/intro to point-supported glazing. We can also present on options for structural glass walls as well as the age-old question “Do we need a top cap?” by delving deeper into Canada’s CSA-A500 guide or can do something completely custom and tailored to your team (much like our products!). Contact us to book a lunch and learn with your team!

Stella is a Recognized Education Provider for both the AIBC (Architectural Institute of BC) and AAA (The Alberta Association of Architects).

Stella is a proud member of several industry associations such as the Fenestration Association of British Columbia, the OGMA (Ontario Glass and Metal Association) and the Toronto Construction Association.

A Green Approach

Our parts are 75% post-consumer material, and we support LEED certification by helping you incorporate energy-efficient glazing systems in the form of double or triple glazing and sunshades into projects with sustainable initiatives.

Custom Solutions

The Right Products For The Right Application!

Custom can mean a lot of things, and often the term is reserved for high-end one-off projects, But at Stella, we find that custom is often the answer to a lot of practical problems. Working with designers to create new parts from scratch is what lights us up and inspires the work we do.

We believe that hardware is not static and should evolve to meet project requirements. Creating hardware that fits perfectly with glass thickness, varying sub-structures, and specific dimensions is what we do. Whether that involves a major re-design or a small tweak, we ensure our product fits seamlessly into your system.

Custom Means Finding Creative Ways to Lower Costs.

Custom design can lower glass structural costs by creating parts that can accommodate and compensate for glass thickness or the need for additional steel structure support – you save money on glass and steel, the most expensive elements in any project.

Roy Lamont
Founder

Roy Lamont

Founder

With over 35 years of experience in the glazing and construction industry in South Africa, Roy recognized a niche for a Canadian-owned and operated glass hardware company. Specifically, North America needed a company that recognized the importance of strong aesthetic design with the flexibility to respond and create unique products/solutions for specialized projects. Roy’s naturally creative instinct kicked in, and building on his background of various roles within the construction and glazing industry, he created Stella Custom Glass Hardware in 2001.

From Stella’s inception, his number one priority has been to form a collaborative and intelligent team committed to design and innovation that truly listens to the architect’s vision and pushes the design envelope to make it a reality.

Today, Roy is involved in projects at a conceptual stage, working collaboratively with architects, engineers, and glazing contractors, at the outset to create the framework for outstanding facade systems.

Outside of Stella, Andres spends his time with friends and family enjoying cooking, working with his hands, and just being outside. His two young sons keep things fun as they too like to build things.

Andres secret talent may lie in his table tennis playing abilities – he has been the reigning champion of Stella’s monthly tournaments since he joined (until recently when the competition within the office has gotten significantly fiercer).

When asked if his preference is for tea or coffee, Andres simply replied “While I am from Colombia…”

Vladimir Boulankov

Senior Designer & Project Coordinator

As a Professional Production Engineer and Designer with an Industrial Engineering background, Vladimir is one of Stella’s Senior Designers.

With a lengthy resume specializing in the optimization of technology, equipment, and tools, Vladimir strives to say everyday that “the product and project have been made better”. He is in constant collaboration with the Stella team and his clients to re-imagine and improve the products and projects we’re working on.

Stella products come alive in Vladimir’s mind – his design process involves taking them apart in his head and carefully considering how parts will be installed on-site. He always considers the end-user (installer) of the product and firmly believes that “1 hour on paper design can easily save 10 hours on-site in install time”. His unique expertise from the production machine floor also grounds his design in manufacturing best practices so products can be made in the most cost-effective manner too.

When not at Stella, Vladimir is with his family. An unique activity is their epic one-day road trips. Vladimir often drives with his family from Vancouver to the Okanagan and back in one day; he credits his unwavering focus to specialized training shared from a  lifelong friend (a race car driver).

Katie Wilkinson-McNab
Marketing

Katie Wilkinson-McNab

Marketing

External marketing, new digital opportunities, and business development are core in Katie’s role at Stella. On Katie’s first day Stella was presented with a sparkly, multi-dimensional crystal and the challenge to make this “crazy” design actually happen in the form of a structural glass wall. Katie was part of the core Stella team that made the impossible occur throughout the construction of the award-winning Sparkling Hill Resort and has been hooked since then on Stella’s approach in transforming stunning architectural design visions into constructible reality.

Katie has worn several different hats at Stella; her current role is marketing-focused but brings into context her knowledge of the industry, prior operational experience, and system-planning to create strategies that involve the full process scope.

When not at Stella, Katie is creating adventures with her husband and their two young daughters. Walks in the forest, jumping in puddles, baking morning muffins, and applying glitter glue to anything are generally the chosen activities of her crew.

Varun Kumar Kottoori

Varun Kumar Kottoori

Mechanical Designer

As a Mechanical Designer, Varun is a core part of Stella’s design team. He works closely with project managers, collaborating with them to transform proposed 2D AutoCAD products into fully visualized 3D Solidworks ones prior to their manufacture. Varun ensures the structural strength of the products by conducting FEA Analysis as well as physical testing. Varun is also responsible for the maintenance and expansion of Stella’s test report library for all our standard and custom parts. Additionally, as Stella pushes the envelope with the use of new materials and finishes, Varun conducts specialized research projects on these.

Varun has always been interested in how machines function; this interest drove him through his studies earning a Bachelor’s in Mechanical Engineering and then a dual Post Grad in Applied Mechanical Design as well as Practical Elements of Mechanical Engineering.

Stella is thankful to have Varun on our team; he literally moved across the country from Ontario to join Stella. Varun feels his cross-country move paid off as he loves the in-depth dialog that occurs everyday at Stella in questioning, improving, and considering new product elements.

When not at Stella, Varun is a Marvel comic fan; he loves watching the characters he grew up reading come to life in movies. Varun also devours suspense thriller novels in his spare time and is gripped by their stories.
