Guildford Town Centre Expansion

A major renovation and 414,100 sq ft retail expansion was deemed necessary to modernize one of Metro Vancouver’s largest shopping centres.

Key to this design was a new entrance featuring an open-air lobby made up of two curving glass walls.

“Behind the Scenes”

These walls were lined with cantilever glass fins supporting both the interior and exterior glazing. Glass fins were mounted to the horizontal primary support beam with the upper fins spanning between the beam and the roof above, and the lower fins cantilevering below.
Countersunk fittings provide a flush exterior to the double-glazed units.
Standard spider assemblies were used in conjunction with custom fittings to integrate the banks of entrance doors.
