First & Main Tower

First & Main is a Class A LEED Platinum 16-storey office building in downtown Portland, Oregon that was completed in 2012 by Hoffman Construction, the general contractor.

To maximize floor space the double glazed structural glass wall is suspended from the structure above using glass fins that cantilever down, allowing 10ft of clear space below. Multi-laminated glass fins were designed and tested using the latest technology internationally available.

The entrance to the lobby is another Stella experience with an all-glass vestibule enclosure welcoming visitors. Understanding the need for sturdy door supports, portal frames were created inside and outside, encapsulated with glass walls, roof and glass connector beams – all were tied together with custom Stella three-way corner stand-offs.

Not only did Stella focus on the hardware side of things, but engineering design also played a big part in the process as well.
