Where There’s Smoke, There’s Fire – JUST LAUNCHED – Stella Smoke Baffle
close
Located in Solano County, California, the transportation authority was previously housed in two rented office spaces with a definite lack of meeting spaces and a challenge of reduced collaboration.
Stella worked to simplify the process for the glazing contractor by:
The design for this new space solved these issues with Stella’s transparent glass balustrades playing a key role in creating an open workspace.
For the glazing contractor, US Glass, Stella offered a near turnkey solution by handling the engineering, design, and glass fabrication drawings in addition to our actual product – the very installer-friendly Posiglaze system (see here).
Stella’s base-mounted Posiglaze system facilitated uninterrupted, completely transparent views. The glaziers loved its unique adjustment system that allows easy horizontal adjustments via a patented system; essentially when fitting Posiglaze channel to an uneven surface, the angle of the channel can be countered by the adjustment of the glass.
Posiglaze (with a Stella-designed matching aluminum top cap) was used in two focal areas.
Area one was on the second floor overlooking the entrance lobby; Area two was surrounding the third floor’s rooftop deck (part of a larger community gathering space).
Per architect LPAS’s description of these areas where Posiglaze was used was a success (source):
“The transparent lobby is open and inviting to the public….
(and) STA employees enjoy spectacular views of the Suisun City Marina from the third-storey conference room and rooftop deck.”
