Modern Multi-Sport Arena
Richmond Olympic Oval
The Olympic Oval is a community and indoor multi-sports arena constructed specifically for the 2010 Winter Olympics. The architectural intent was to create maximum visibility across this enormous space. By fastening the glass to the edges of the walkways and stairs the glass was able to cantilever upwards, eliminating the need for posts. Handrails discreetly fastened to the sides of the glass also acted as guards where necessary.
